The Media Show
If you're not already aware of it, the Media Show on BBC Radio 4 is essential listening if you want to stay on top of contemporary media issues. Recent shows touch on issues which are absolutely fundamental to your A-Level: the future of the BBC and the post-Levenson regulation of the press.
Find it on iPlayer here:

And this is the current list of archived shows which is updated each week.

The shows with John Wittingdale (the Culture Secretary), Alan Rusbridger (former editor in chief of The Guardian Media Group) and the debate show on the future of the BBC are all essential for you to listen to.

Year 13 Homework 13/10/15
Due next Monday please, everyone:
Activity 1
Look into your crystal ball and see if you can guess the future of digital technology how will media institutions be distributing their texts and content in 20 years time. Set up a discussion group. How will you receive your TV programmes? What institutions will still be around in 20 years time – the BBC, Virgin Media, News International? Maybe you will work for one of these groups – what sort of thing might you be doing?
Activity 2
In the music business the sale of CDs has fallen to a new low threatening the CD format as a viable product – how should music be distributed? Look at it from the Point Of View (POV) of a musician wanting to make a living out of recorded music, and of an institution trying to market and make a profit out of selling music.

Welcome to the Oldershaw Academy OCR Media Exam blog
Snappy title eh?
OK everyone, the principles of this blog will hopefully be the same as those of Mr Liddell's:
- I will set work and post teaching resources for you here
- I will add links to things I think you need to watch/read/be aware of
- I will link this page to your own blogs and thereby allow everyone to see each other's work
- There will be discussions on here about various aspects of the course and its content
Hopefully it's self explanatory. Bear with me while I get to grips with it as I've not used this before. However, hopefully we'll all be up to speed soon and therefore have an ongoing record of your learning and my teaching.
Cheers,
Mr Natton
